Miller, Founder & Director of WE LEARN, welcomes the participants
and reads a letter of welcome
from Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.
"This
(Net)Working conference offers an opportunity to reconnect
with our friends, peers, and colleagues but it is also a place
where we gain the strength and revitalization to do the work
of advocating for women's lives, especially through basic
education and literacy." |

The
conference opened on Friday morning with storyteller Valerie
Tutson. "She got people engaged right away and she got
us singing a song in four different languages, including American
Sign Language." "Fabulous!" "Lively &
marvelous."

We
created an environment of caring, support, healing, and community
through flowers, music, good food, art, and quiet space for
reflection.
|
We showed
an exhibit of picture cards (Game Face) that portray women
in a variety of sporting activities. Conference participants
were invited to offer their reflections on a nearby bulletin
board as a community writing project.
