Description: from the publisher...
"Racism and the stereotypes it spawns are so subtly
intertwoven into the fabrics of Western society that
very often, even those with the best of intentions will
display bad cutural manners. This does not necessarily
mean one is a bad person - sometimes people just don't
know any better..." This book is written for all people,
not just "white" people, because no one living in Western
society is exempt from the influences of racism.

Description: This is a collection
of poems written in English by women who were born in
other countries and came to the U.S. out of exile. We
used some selections from this book for one of the book
discussion groups with women learners. They are somewhat
challenging but the topics are resonant with learners
who have left their home countries as exiles rather
than by choice. Also, this is good reading for those
wanting to encounter the emotional aspects of exile.
