Dear Friends of WE LEARN,

In times of economic crisis, everyone scales back to the barest minimum.
Budget crunches mean fewer and narrower options, especially in education – and even more so for women. But to quote a women’s labor song from 1910…

As we come marching, marching, unnumbered women dead
Go crying through our singing their ancient cry for bread.
Small art and love and beauty their drudging spirits knew.
Yes, it is bread we fight for -- but we fight for roses, too!

In many ways, WE LEARN provides the art, the beauty, and the flowers!

We cultivate women’s ways of knowing that nourish the mind, body, and spirit. We recognize that learning happens in every aspect of women’s lives, not just in the classroom.

Throughout our six short and successful years, WE LEARN has always operated on a slim budget AND created quality programming and projects. We have been very effective at operating on a shoestring, and members and donors can be proud that each dollar has tremendous value.

That said, we still rely on and critically need the continued generous support of our donors and members. If you support…

• Holistic educational opportunities;
• Women’s self-sufficiency attained through basic education & literacy;
• Validation of marginalized women’s words through publication and public forum; and
• Feminist/womanist perspectives that demand equity and justice for women and girls in all matters of self, family, community, and society

Though our vision may be ambitious, WE LEARN has had tremendous success helping women become more confident, capable and prepared to accomplish their goals. Educators, students, and communities find support through the resources we offer. These are the roses our learners and educators have come to appreciate!
